UMKC will be sponsoring an exhibit and several events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Hiroshima - Nagasaki: 70 Years Beyond the Bombings opening of library exhibit at UMKC's Miller Nichols Library 800 E. 51st St. (Exhibit runs through Sunday, October 4.)
Special materials: Hiroshima Peace Museum books and posters, including images of bombed persons—photos not allowed to be shown in the U.S. after the bombings; written personal accounts by hibakusha (survivors); photos from the Atomic Photographers Guild; information on the Humanitarian Pledge, being signed by countries this spring and summer to make nuclear weapons illegal; and documents and pictures on current national and local nuclear issues, including the production of non-nuclear parts for nuclear weapons in KC since 1949.
