The Marvelous Modern Traditional Japanese Novel

Dr. Wert earned a BA in Asian Studies from the University of Iowa and an MA and Ph.D. from The University of Kansas.  He has taught Japanese literature and history at the Kansas City Art Institute for forty-five years.  Every few years he has taught a seminar on the Tale of Genji.  He has spoken at past meetings of the Japan American Society on Kawabata Yasunari, Dazai Osamu and on Zen poetry and stories.  Dr. Wert has published a number of books, articles and book reviews and has done a number of small projects for Ken Burns new film The War in Vietnam.
